About the Artist
Amber Massey is a fine artist based in Sacramento, originally from South Monterey County, California. Her passion for capturing the natural environment most likely came from growing up surrounded by the Los Padres National Forest, Salinas Valley, and the famed Monterey Bay, as well as, her parents being fine art appreciators and collectors in their own right. She still vividly remembers her first visit with them to an art gallery in Morro Bay and the wonderment she felt. With the support and encouragement from her family, she went on to pursue her love of art academically and professionally.
Amber received two degrees from California State University, Sacramento in Studio Art and Art History in 2012, but it was her time spent at Sacramento City College prior that most influenced her. There she studied with local phenomes Fred Dalkey and David Lobenberg where her love for the human form and plein-air style painting was born. Her chosen mediums to work in are watercolor, ink, and acrylic.
Most recently, Amber was the Gallery Director for the successful and popular Tim Collom Gallery, located in midtown Sacramento. After 5 years, she has passed the torch and now enjoys having her weekends back for painting, visiting galleries and museums, gardening, hiking, and traveling.
